Text Box: Single Track Trails We have gotten started on the mountain biking trails thanks to the helping hands of the Children’s Home of Jefferson County. The kids have been riding at Salmon Hills on a regular bases and came out to help clear a single track trail. After ward we all took a ride on the trail and could see we all need more practice but it was fun. If anyone comes out to ride the trails you will find the single track trails marked with orange ribbons along the main trails. This first trail is connected to the Hemlock trail. Soon I will post maps in the front entrance way of the lodge with the single tracks marked. We will be adding the next one soon nearer the lodge.
Please come out and ride these new trails since that will help pack the soil down and keep them clear. Well used trails are easier to maintain. We are not charging any fees but if anyone would like to contribute some funds to keep this growing let us know. Since there is not a lot of trails of this kind in our area it should become a great asset available to the biking community. It is our goal to create a mix of expert to novice trails so there can be something for every one. Along with the current trail system this goal should be easly attained with some time, hard work and help from the biking community. We are also looking into getting IMBA involved. If anyone has any feed back about these new trails or would like to help with there creation e-mail info@salmonhills.com.

Text Box: The Duathlon in May went well and feed back from the racers was very positive. Some commented as they peddled up on their bikes about to transition into the second 2 mile run “my legs feel like Jell-O”. After the race the feed back was that the course was great. We learned a lot from this first run and are look forward to using the new info on more competitions.
The weather was great and a nice breeze kept the bugs under control. The race included two 2 mile runs and an 8 mile bike. There are not many X-Terra races in the area and we hope we will be able to offer many more. We are now putting together a Triathlon for July 29, 2006 and more details will be on there way. We also plan to hold some orienteering, adventure racing and mountain bike competitions in the future.
