Sunday, April 6, 2008
It's time to dust off and lubricate the bike. We stopped grooming
the ski trails unless we get a freak snow storm. We are focusing on
spring and summer activities from now on. There is geocaching events,
a bluegrass festival, a cross country running camp, summer biathlon, a
triathlon, women's (long) weekend out, stargazing, hunter education,
rafting, kayaking, and canoeing. Stay tuned for updates and on the new
construction of the biathlon range on the
summer "Events" web page.
Thank you Roy for all
the hours of grooming the trails with the Pisten Bully snow cat, and Andy
for keeping the access road and parking lots plowed and snow piled with the
front end loader. Indirectly Sylvia serving breakfast, lunch, and
dinner makes the whole winter operation complete.
PS Check with Roy to get some expert advice e.g. waxing, ski tuning, or dog
sled rides.
ATTENTION SKIERS!!!
(Just in case we get another storm before the season ends)
Grooming the ski trails is on-going from
early in the morning and through the day when "heavy snow" is
occurring. To provide the best skiing surface, pack, and
till the powder snow, it is almost necessary for the skiers to
follow the snow cat. We wait until closer to 9:00 am to
start for that reason. Some of the trails will have new
fallen snow until the machine comes back. It takes (5)
hours to groom all the trails. Sometimes it snows for
several days in a row, and on windy days we get snow drifts
across the ski trails. Tell Roy how much you appreciate
all his hours of grooming!
